Both Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team riders left Misano having notched up positive results, with Alex Lowes registering a season best second place in Race 1 and Michael van der Mark matching his best previous 2017 finishes in fourth place on Sunday. Van der Mark had also shown strong potential by leading Race 1 before a crash.

Taking advantage of the late drama which affected the likes of Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati), Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) and Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) on Saturday Lowes was delighted to achieve another podium finish having also been third in Race 1 at Donington last time out. However, he did not have such a good Sunday at Misano as he lost the front and crashed out.

After Race 2, Lowes commented, "It was easy to make a small mistake today, and I am not too sure what happened so it is a shame to lose an opportunity to get some good points. Overall, it's been a promising weekend, showing good potential - even if it was a tough one. We learnt a lot and I am looking forward to Laguna."

For Van der Mark, his Sunday ended far more happily than Saturday’s Race 1 which had seen him crash out when leading the race. He went from 12^th on the grid to fourth place as he crossed the finish line at the end of Race 2, to complete the Pirelli Riviera Di Rimini Round on a high.

The Dutchman stated, "I was struggling to stop the bike, but we hadn't changed anything from Saturday. I saw that the guys in front were also not doing the same pace from Saturday, so I tried to do my own laps and got close to Alex and Eugene (Laverty). I passed Alex and then Eugene and tried to close the gap to the guys at the front, but we were doing similar times so I couldn't really achieve that."

"Towards the end, I got another problem with the rear tyre. It's a shame, but the positive is that we got some good points today. The best thing about the weekend was leading the race for so long on Saturday. We can't change anything, so we will take the positives and I look forward to Laguna Seca."
